HP Prime is a CAS graphing calculator and is named by College Board among prohibited Hewlett Packard SAT calculators.
College Board's SAT calculator policy allows many handheld calculators, but it draws a hard line against CAS functionality and names HP Prime in the prohibited Hewlett Packard examples. The HP Prime is recorded in this guide as a color touchscreen CAS graphing calculator. That means the device is not banned merely because it has a large display, graphing tools, programming features, a rechargeable battery, or a modern interface. It is banned because it is a CAS calculator identified by the policy. Digital SAT students can use the Desmos calculator embedded in Bluebook, and they may bring a separate approved handheld calculator, but that handheld still must be non-CAS and must satisfy the restrictions. HP Prime does not meet that test, even if memory is cleared or exam mode is enabled.
